I have long dreamed of a color wheel bathing my fabulous vintage silver tree in shining colors.
However I haven't been able to find an affordable one that also works on etsy or ebay and I've never seen one at a thrift shop around here. When I found out the Vermont Country Store was selling one I ordered it immediately.
I must admit my feelings are somewhat mixed. I was a little disappointed when I saw the color affects where rather subtle at best, I had imagined glowing color changes, but as my husband pointed out we have never seen an actual vintage color wheel in action, so we have no way of comparing the Vermont Country Store version its forbears. It was very easy to assemble and is relatively quiet, a big plus with so many pets in the house.
Here is a video of our color wheel in action:
I love it ... brings back a lot of memories!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! And, is that a lion head ornament? I love it!

Very cool! I think the color shifts look great! I have a little fiber optic tree that does the same thing. In it's base is a tiny color wheel and the very tip of the fake pine needles rotate through lots of colors.
ReplyDeleteThat is very cool. Your tree looks beautiful with those lights! I like the wheel is relatively quiet, which is really a big plus when we have fur kids :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Weasley looks interested in the color wheel!

Christmas is all about having what you truly like! We think that wheel might be barked at in this house.
ReplyDeleteLong time ago my mommys parents had those trees too, and the color wheel.

ReplyDeleteWow that is a cool idea from the past. We never had those here as far as I know. What fun. Have a tremendous Thursday.

My grammie had a silver tree and one of those wheels. I don't remember it shooting off much color thinking back, but that was MANY moons ago!!!
ReplyDeleteMy aunt had one. I guarantee you it lit up the front half of the tree. Yours is very pretty. Wonder why you don't find these on eBay? Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteSuper cool!!! This is one of those mid-century delights that has all but fallen off the mainstream radar entirely. It's great to know that VCS is still keeping the traditional alive and well.
ReplyDeleteHappiest holiday season wishes!
