Weasley's Second Birthday Celebration-Day 1

Weasley here:

If you have been a follower of this blog and of my mother's previous blog, Urban Hounds they you may know that I am approaching a very important birthday for a young pug.  On March 11 I will be 2 years old!  Now sadly mom and dad must go to their silly old jobs from which the treat money comes from on March 11 they made a deal with me that my birthday celebration will fall on the weekend.  Now, since I am turning two and since my actual birthday is during the week, this year I am very lucky that the festivities will be spanning two weekends.  On Sunday my 'rents kicked of my birthday right with a day  of treats and shopping.

I started with a nice breakfast of yogurt pancakes.  Mom and dad were so keen to capture my cuteness they took photos of me indoors and out.  This was a bit annoying but I as I got 3 pancakes, one for each year of my life and one to grow on I was well compensated.

After pancakes we took a nice family walk.

Then off to the upscale Jersey City neighborhood to shop at one of my favorite pet boutiques Canis Minor.  I had quite a good time sniffing all the various bones and chewies

In case you are wondering my adorable W shirt is from Diva Dog Designs .  I got it for my last birthday.

and Dad and I selected a giant snake, 5 ft long, for my toy!

However, the trip to the store was sadly not without its troubles.  Mom wanted to buy me a new harness because my current one was getting a wee bit snug.  Sadly the very young shop girl was not well educated in the uniqueness of pug anatomy.   Mom was explaining that I needed a step in harness, since as a pug a regular harness or collar could just slip over my shoulders which are the same size  majestic neck roll.  She wanted to get me a Puppia soft vest harness but they had only a large and my manly physique requires an xlarge.   The shop girl kept trying to sell mom the other Puppia harness with its side snap, not realizing that I would easily escape it.   When mom again explained my unique build, the shop girl actually said "well yes all  pugs are morbidly obese."  I mean really!!!  I'm only the tiniest bit chubby and I'll have you know that my vet is very happy with my weight.  Honestly, if the snake hadn't been so cool I wouldn't have permitted mom and dad to honor the store with our patronage.  Then on the way out as I was hopping about like a kangaroo and preparing to charge on with my walk the girl actually asked mom "so is he super lazy like all  pugs, they don't like to move right."  Mom was explaining that as a young pug I was quite jumpy and active, but that older pugs were more on the lazy side, when I dragged her right out of the store so we could walk along the Hudson river promenade with its NYC skyline views.

Next we were supposed to go to the dog park but sadly when we got there it was empty and a pit of icy mud.  Of course I still wanted to go in but mom and dad said "no!"

Instead I was forced to pose for yet another picture.   On they way home though they stopped at Party City to buy wrapping paper for the presents I am getting next weekend and I have noticed packages arriving in the mail!  So I have high hopes.   The snake is also pretty cool.  Making an excellent toy and a good pillow.

  1. Hmmm...Seems to me that I would call the manager at the pet store and tell them about the weekend encounter and how the sales girl needs work on her customer service skills...and maybe force her to read a book about breeds so she realizes that you, sweet Weasley, are a PERFECT pug. :)
    Much Love,
Mama Mindy & The Slimmer Puggums wish you a Happy 2nd birthday!!

*PS* Please thank your lovely mommy for me for her comment on today's new bargain vintage themed blog post. Much like her, I too remember the days back in my teen years when one could readily find vintage for a song. Ohhh, how I long for those days! :)

  9. WE think hers was just stoopid when it comes to pug info and perhaps hers needs to go to dog class..or customer class.....we loves your snake but ours mom is afeared so much of them that we couldn't bring on of those home, maybe ours mom needs to go to snake class and study up on them, we think you are just perfect Weasley....don't listen anymore to negative nellie!

  10. Happy birthday Weasley. Two weekends worth of celebrations - you are one lucky pup.

Now you and Mom just ignore that rude girl in the pet shop. We don't think she will be working in a customer service role much longer if she carries on like that.

    Toodle pip!

  15. HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY, WEASLEY! Sounds like you had an action-packed day. I love that photo of you resting your head on your giant snake! BOL! I really like your Irish-themed neck accessory (not sure what to call it). It's really cool - did your mom make that for you?

I'm sure the celebration will be equally as awesome next weekend - did I mention you have the coolest 'rents ever. They certainly know how to make a pug feel special on his Birthday! :)

    -Love,
    Sid.
