Friday Funnies-Yes Boy Do Poodles Exist

Since adding Mr. Tuvok to our family I've come to terms with the fact that nearly everyone assumes that toy poodles are girls and refers to them with feminine pronouns, even after being corrected.  However, Wednesday I experienced the funniest example of this. A large group of rather rowdy children outside of an apartment building, and with proper supervision I let them.  They wanted to know all about their names and who the mother was, only Tuvok, Fry, and Weasley, were present at the time.  Bob and Ping do not like rambunctious children.  I explained there was no mother and that they were all boys.   One little girl look confused as she petted Tuvok, "but I thought all poodles were girls she said. "  Mr. Tuvok choose to make a graceful exit at that time.

  4. Well I could have told your young friend that my standard poodle cousin Percy is most definitely a boy, and quite a bossy one at that!

  6. Haha, that's funny :-) I think the classic (?) or familiar poodle hair cut with balls of fur at ankles makes people think of girl when they see poodles. Tuvok is very handsome and I love his fair cut!

the beds around the house have increased in the last few years - Bailey used to always be on the couch watching TV but he can no longer get up on the couch on his own and since he tends to bail off if he sees something on TV or out the window he wants to bark at, its best to leave him at floor level. Mabel kinda rules the couch now BOL!

  10. We get all scotties must be males. Everyone calls them Jock. Nice that the kids can hear about dogs and learn about them.

  11. Isn't that funny? I can see that mindset, but I try never to assign gender pronouns to any animal until I know for sure one way or the other. Funnily enough, despite her bright pink collar (and purple leash!) many people automatically assume that Annie is a boy. I think it's because she's a big dog with a very energetic, one might even say tomboy, nature.

  12. I sort of fixed that problem for Nicky. I gave him a mini mustache. We think it's cute and sort of gives the sign that, "hey, I am a boy." I don't think I did it until he was a bit over a year though.
