The day after Norbert died it snowed, and it snowed a lot. Norbert loved the snow it was such a fitting tribute I wanted to share some of my favorite photos of him playing in the snow:
Despite our sadness we are moving on with out our boy. Our friends have helped us so much and each message has moved us deeply, I am repeating the Hebrew Proverb from our friend Taryn at A Tail of Two Cardis:
Say not in grief
"He is no more"
but live in the thankfulness
That he was....
Hebrew proverb
"He is no more"
but live in the thankfulness
That he was....
Hebrew proverb
I am also comforted by this quote from Carl Sagan:
“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.”
This quote reminds me that every time I look up at the night sky I am seeing the elements that made my sweet boy, no memorial could be more fitting.
I'm so sorry about Norbert ...I'm just reading this now. These pictures are beautiful and show such joy in all of their faces. A truly beautiful tribute.
ReplyDeletePlease know that we are sending you much love and support across the miles. Run free, Norbert.
They seem to be really enjoying the snow.
ReplyDeleteWe know how sad this time is. Sending lots of hugs your way

We have been thinking of you and it was lovely to see this post today remembering Norbert in the snow!. I really like the Hebrew proverb AND the quote. I am trying so hard to leave the grief of losing Greta behind and celebrate her life. Little Mabel is helping us do that. I know when the time is right you will honor Norbert by adding another furkid and they will be very lucky to have a wonderful loving family.

ReplyDeleteThose are such lovely photos of your sweet Norbert. And such happy photos...he sure had a wonderful life xoxo
ReplyDeleteOver the years I have collected several sayings/ quotes etc. that I liked best for comforting those dealing with a loss. Based on your Carl Sagan quote here is another that may bring you comfort:
ReplyDeleteIn the Morning's Hush.....
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
- Mary Elizabeth Frye
Those are beautiful and fitting quotes. We're happy the snow came to remind you of your boy out gamboling in the snow.
ReplyDeleteYou can see he is having so much fun in the snow. What a nice way to bring back those memories when it snowed the next day.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lynne x
Lovely photos, lovely quotes.
ReplyDeleteNichole and the Lapdogs sent me. I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing can ever make up for Norbert, but at some point you will begin to smile as you remember something he did or loved, instead of crying. My thoughts are with you as you smile and cry over Norbert's love of the snow.
ReplyDeleteSweet Kate, your outlook is so inspiringly positive. With all my heart, I am sorry for your family's loss and wish I could reach out right now and give you a giant hug. Please know that you are in my thoughts and heart and that truly hope that peace is able to settle upon you during this difficult time.

So fitting and so touching. I love seeing your photos of a happy Norbert playing in the snow. I do hope that, someday, you'll smile because you knew and loved Norbert even though you will always miss him. I love that Carl Sagan quote, and I'm glad it gave you some solace during this tough time.
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to read about Norbert. We were away with the sickies and therefore were not aware of his passing. Our hearts got out to you and we know they may be gone but never forgotten. Gentle hugs from us to you from across the pond.
