Friday's With Fred-Beginner's Luck

First I just want to thank everyone who commented on my post regarding Norbert's health.   It really cheers me up to know other bloggers understand how I feel.  The good news is Norbert seems to be responding to the antibiotic, he did last time too, and all symptoms of infection are gone.  He is eating, drinking, and playing normally.  The only question is why the e-coli infection came back after two week on the antibiotic.  The current plan is to treat for another two weeks and if the infection comes back again to do further testing, such as an ultrasound, we already did x-rays that didn't show any problems.  Right now we are choosing to home its just a stubborn bug.

I'm also touched that so many readers understand how hard it is too loose a favorite vet.   I actually didn't use Dr. Gaylord for long but he is by far the best vet I've worked with in 13 years.  Dr. K, the vet Dr. Gaylord turned his cases over too, seems good too and I've spoken to him about Norbert.  He is in agreement that Norbert is probably just dealing with an infection.

I wanted to start turning my blog back to its usual more cheerful format with today's post.  I blog to make myself and, hopefully, others happy and there's no better time to try and do that then the See Beautiful blog hop.  Of course there is no better example of See Beautiful then the support I got in the kind comments about Norbert, but I do think another example comes with my one of my favorite entertainers: the incomparable Fred Astaire.  Fred brought beauty to millions of audience members with everything he did.  In particular the delightful Astaire and Roger's movies lifted audiences out of the struggles of the great depression into a glamorous dream world.  Of course they are escapist entertainment, but I think we can all do with a bit of escape.  The following clip is one of my favorite scenes from any Astaire film, I think its pretty obvious why.  Fred does appear to be quite the dog walker.  I also love the song, Beginner's Luck, since I married my college sweet heart and first real boy friend it always reminds me of my own relationship, and that like Fred I am lucky through and through.

We lost our favorite vet once before. (She decided to retire.) But we like the new vet, too. I hope Dr. K will be as good as Dr. Gaylord!
I didn't know Fred Astaire until I read your posts about him, but I'm liking him very much!

  7. Hi Y'all,

I do so hope Norbert is cured after this round of antibiotics.

Understand about loosing vets. We have lost 2 of our vets, one very recently. The one replacement vet didn't work out for us. But it's a long story. My Human won't settle for convenience when it comes to vets and doctors.

    Y'all come by now,

  12. I was watching this movie just the other day! This scene made quite an impression on me too.

I'm glad that things are looking positive, and the new vet is turning out well, and I hope the upward trend continues.

  16. So glad Norbert is doing better. When we had the bouts of the ickies it was doing the rounds in our area and we just kept getting it again but now all is OK. Try not to worry and a good strong and long treatment of antibiotics should do the trick. Love F&G they always make us smile. Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly
