After seeing this educational film strip I really want to take a time machine back to the 1950s, even if I just stay for dinner. A time when buttered peas, steak, cheese, and ice cream were part of the balanced meal! Yes please! Of course this film strip was produced by the National Dairy Council
I love how much healthier, in some ways, folks used to eat back then. The war on fat in the last few decades has done much to negatively damage our health and increase our waistlines. Far from harming, some fats are actually incredibly important for us and we'd be better served by eating more of them and less carbs/sugars/starches (as diets like the paleo and ketogenic ones have at their hearts).

Yum! The peas reminded me we haven't had creamed peas in a long time and now that's sounding really good. Our human loves vintage recipes.
