Fry the Alarm Clock Update and a Computer Update

I realize that in my original post on this topic I mistyped Kong as King and quieted as quoted, blame my sleep addled brain.    I don't think my goals are lofty I just want Fry to sleep to 530 am, however he appears to be an early riser who thins a 330 am wake up call is more appropriate. This meme featuring Fry's name sake Phillip J Fry of Futurama seems to sump our situation pretty accurately.

The whole wake up cycle is started by my 3 cats who tend to come into our bedroom and start meowing very early in the morning.   This wakes Fry up and unfortunately after an early morning potty break he seems to think its time to play.  Since we live in the city we can't let him cry it out, and cry he does.   He is also a bit too young and active to sleep in the bed with us right now.  Bob definitely doesn't like his sleep disturbed and would be happy to have Fry jumping around the bed in the wee hours.
Yes this is Bob's butt it lies next to me on the pillow every night.  Luckily its a pretty cute butt, but it doesn't like to be disturbed.

As I said in my earlier post I realize something has to change so I've begun a three pronged attack plan.  First I've started feeding my cats their wet food at night my hope is that eventually they won't be looking for the AM wet food and will be quieter in the morning.  Second, we've been upping Fry's evening play time in an effort to tire him out. As soon as some of the slush and snow clears he will also be going for a much longer evening walk with Weasley and Bob.  Tubby and Ping only like a short jaunt these days.  Thirdly, I bought a larger size Kong, not the teeny tiny pug recommended one, and stuffed it with PB and kibble and froze it.  The bigger Kong should be keep him occupied longer in the after early morning potty break.    Hopefully it won't also make him fat.  So far so good, he has been regularly making it to 430 am without barking his head off which is much better then 330, even if we have a way to go.

Now onto the computer situation update. Still not fixed but I bought my first iPad and I'll be using it to blog.   Here is my first iPad picture of Weasley

  1. Wow, your i-pad takes the cutest of photos!
I've slowly got back to normal after my early morning alarm calls, post Christmas, so the peeps do feel for you, sleep deprivation does make peeps do very odd things at times!
Little Fry is just such a sweetie pie, so cute in his pjs, he'll get the sleepie idea in the end! Promise!

  3. Although Mabel is more laid back than Greta it seems her energy level builds during the week. Sat she was awake at 4:30, I took her out to potty thinking she would go back to sleep - oh no, wanted to play just like Fry. But she gets more activity on the weekends and she gets tired enough to sleep longer. Just like having a baby!

  11. Thank for the update. It sounds like you're heading in the right direction with Fry.Oh but he is cute. As is Bob's butt! The older I get the more I hate disturbed nights. Fortunately, so far - fingers crossed - it has not been a problem with Bertie.
    Cheers, Gail.

  12. Boy I hated it when my computer was on the fritz!

If you are concerned about him gaining weight, could you consider putting some of his regular food in the Kong? You will still be helping him to quiet, just not adding the extra calories. :-)

  13. Oh no, I'm very sorry to hear that your computer is still not fixed. I can wholeheartedly imagine how stressful and annoying that must be for you guys. Fingers crossed that it joins the land of the living, so to speak, again soon.

    Big hugs,

  15. I'm glad your new plan sounds like it's working. Sounds like it can be a challenge coordinating all the fur babies' different sleep/awake patterns. Good luck! ALSO: Bob wins the award for most adorable butt ever. LOL.

    Sid.
