Thanks to one of my favorite Etsy seller Time Machine Vintage I was able to get a very accurate reproduction of this dress that fit me just right. I purchased the dress last year and it made me a total Time Machine Vintage addict. I wore it a few weekends ago with a 1930s-ish hat I got from Anthropologie and I did get some pictures. I am not much of a model so they don't due the dress justice but here they are any way: |

Vintage Outfit Post-1950s Reproduction Dress and 1930s Reproduction Hat
As a vintage lover I am constantly falling in love with clothes that don't fit me. Many times I have clicked on a dress on Etsy and discovered the measurements are hopelessly tiny when compared with my non-vintage sized frame. That was the case with this beautiful 1950s dress, not usually my favorite era but it is divine:

You always look so stylish. Have you ever thought about making your own clothes from old patterns? Have a fabulous Friday.

What a timelessly, sophisticatedly beautiful custom made frock. I love that you took inspiration from a garment from one decade and made it more your own in another (the 30s).

*PS* I am so with you when it comes to the frustration of constantly running into vintage garments that are, as you said, hopelessly tiny. I don't consider myself big boned at all, but my rib cage and hip bones alone, even if they had nary an ounce of meat on them, wouldn't fit into some of those ultra tiny vintage garments. I think you'd need to be build like a modern day equivalent of Dovima to get into them!
Love it! Especially that gorgeous hat :-)
ReplyDeletethe dress turned out great, and i think that hat looks so good on you! i always want to wear vintage but i never find stuff in my size. maybe i'll just have to get something made!
