NJ Super Expo

Every year for the past 7 years, since we moved to NJ, we have attended the NJ pet expo.  This year was rather sad because it was our first year going without Norbert, he really liked going to the pet expo and getting treat samples.   We brought all four pugs, Bob isn't much for crowds.  Fry had to be carried because just before we got to the expo he had his last puppy shot

and isn't supposed to be mixing much with strange  dogs for another week.  It was about an half hour drive from the vet to the expo

When we got to the expo it was so crowded it was pretty much impossible to take any pictures.

It may have been that I was missing Norbert but I was pretty disappointed with the expo this year.  The products weren't really anything special.  We did see a pug painted in hearts which was pretty unsusual:

and there was a tropical birds display that I couldn't get a good picture of.   I also got Fry's picture taken by a professional pet photographer for a good price, twenty dollars, much less then the usual fee and I can order prints in a week so that may have made the trip worth while.  We only bought one thing, soft baked cheddar treats, but they do seem to be a hit, our older pugs  seemprefer softer treats and these treats are nice and soft and made in the USA.   The company K9 Granola Factory  has a nice range of USA made treats available on their website.

Pet expo may not have been that great this year, but it seemed to tire the pugs out:

  1. Shame it wasn't the best show this year but it looks like a great event to go to. Maybe it'll be more fun next year.
That last photo is pawfect, Dad needs a bigger lap!
Doesn't Fry look sooo cute snuggled in to Dads arm!

  4. I find the Pet Expos to be way too crowded to want to take my dogs in. They would NOT enjoy that environment. Too many of the dogs being dragged around are stressed out and on edge. I don't need Jimmy deciding to snark at one of those dogs! Without the dogs, I can make my rounds, grab samples, and get out quickly. Works best that way for all of us. And you are so right, way too crowded for good photos!

  5. Yah, sometimes those events are not all they're cracked up to be. Cool that you have 4 dogs who can all come though! My pups would be beside themselves with anxiety ...not a good scene :)

  6. Sorry the expo was not so enjoyable but I guess the yummy treat is worth the trip :-) Glad your babies like the cheddar treat! Love the last photo - they look quite tired!

  7. Oh yes, all the smells, that sure is enough to tire someone out.

I'm not big on expos, mostly because I worry about my two being less than well behaved. :-(

  11. That looks like such a blast! I've been to vintage shows, car shows, bridal shows, antiques shows, and fashion shows, but never pet expo, not even when I lived in larger cities. I'd super love to one day, if possible - even if I didn't have any pets then (unlikely, but I'm just saying :)).

Tons of hugs to you and all your precious pups,
    ♥ Jessica

  12. I understand about missing Norbert. There are things that I used to love to do with Pip and now they are just not as much fun.

  13. Hopefully the treats made up for it in the end. We don't have anything really like that over here. Have a terrific Tuesday.

  14. My kids love the K9 Granola Factory stuff. One of our local pet food stores carries them and we've tried several, both soft and hard treats.

  17. That last photo is great! I bet you all keep your dad nice and warm during this cold winter. Sorry to hear the expo was a bit of a bust - although glad to see you all got some tasty treats (look at how good you are all sitting for your treats!).

    -Love,
    Sid.
